Reviews

"16-year-old Mariah is a believable character, equipped with a healthy sense of humor and some lovable flaws. Actually, every single character in this book is full of life. Suspense and romance in equal portions make sure you never want to stop reading. FINDING MARIAH is a bestseller and well-deservedly so."
~Christine Spindler, E-Books for Kids
"FINDING MARIAH is a total delight. The mystery is fast paced and compelling, the characters memorable. The best thing about this book is the way Ms. Barton draws the relationships between her characters. Finding Mariah blends romance, suspense, and some serious issues into a completely satisfying quick summer read. I give it my highest recommendation."
~ Carrie S. Masek for The Independent Publisher
"FINDING MARIAH will make you chuckle even as it pulls on your heartstrings. The interaction between Mariah and her niece and nephews is well developed while the boy-girl relationships are definitely G-rated. The book is a quick read (a mere 103 pages) with short, cliff-hanging chapters. Mariah's resourcefulness, as well as her mistakes, make her a heroine most young readers will enjoy."
4 Stars! ~ Scribes World Reviews
"FINDING MARIAH is a great story of a strong-willed young woman. As she discovers more about herself than she ever dreamed possible, she stumbles across a multitude of secrets about her past. She also finds herself in the midst of a mystery involving Doc and the mysterious Calvin, and ends up being chased by a killer and lost in the mountains. The book is exciting, filled with just the right amount of suspense, love and fun, to keep any young adult's attention to the very end."
4 Stars! ~Reviewed for Tracy's Book Reviews by Lorie Ham, Author of MURDER IN FOUR PART HARMONY.
This book was great! My class read, and loved it. Some of the less advanced readers had trouble, but overall it was a huge success. Since many of my students have military families, they could sympathize with Mariah. The suspenseful story and wonderful writing definitely made it a hit. I try steering away from books with one main character, as boys don't like 'girl books' and vice versa, but even my most picky readers enjoyed this story. Thanks! 'I didn't want to put it down. Great!' --from one of my students."
~A Winning Reader Review from Christa
(Student Review) "In FINDING MARIAH, the characters are just like the people in my neighborhood (except for Calvin.) The story is about Mariah, a girl who gets lost almost anywhere--even in a parking lot! So when a murder takes place at the retirement home where her Uncle Henry is, she has to find a way to tell the sheriff--but she gets lost again! Her boyfriend Brian finds her though. And Mariah finds something else very special, something she never knew. It's a fascinating book for anyone that is at least a 6th grade reading level. I loved the book because it's edge of your seat excitement!"
(Editor/Mom's note) "Michelle loved this book so much she read it under the covers with a flashlight! I found the characters well drawn and believable. The story is fast paced and age-level appropriate. Any time a child risks getting grounded for reading after hours, you know it's a good book!"
